Our Team

George Vasdravellis, MEng, PhD, FHEA

George is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 20 years of experience in steel and composite structures, seismic design, and advanced finite element analysis (FEA). His expertise bridges academic research and professional consultancy, with a focus on creating sustainable, code-compliant, and constructible designs.

After graduating from the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), he completed his PhD at the Politecnico di Milano in 2007. He then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Sydney, conducting experimental and theoretical studies on advanced seismic systems (SC-MRFs) and composite beam behaviour.

He is currently an Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University (UK), where his research spans seismic resilience, demountable connections, and innovative structural systems. Alongside academia, George provides consultancy through Scube, delivering rigorous design solutions and technical expertise to clients across the UK and Greece.

George Spanos, MEng, MSc, MBA

George is a Chartered Structural Engineer with nearly 20 years of experience in structural and geotechnical design, as well as site supervision across buildings, infrastructure, and energy projects. His career spans residential and commercial developments, luxury hotels and hospitals, hydraulic and underground structures, retaining systems, and deep foundations.

He began his academic journey at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) before earning an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering from École des Ponts ParisTech (France) and later an MBA in International Business from the Athens University of Economics & Business.

George has worked internationally, including in the Middle East with Fugro Survey (UAE) on large-scale offshore energy projects. Today, he brings together his international perspective, technical depth, and practical site experience to deliver robust, constructible, and cost-efficient solutions.
